Sculpt for the Sea Witch

THE CREATION OF THE
SEA WITCH

The original plasticine sculpt of the head and hands of the Sea Witch.

Two-piece Mould

Two-part Plaster moulds are taken of the plasticine originals.  Liquid Latex is then poured into the moulds and left to cure.

Costuming

Wires are inserted into the fingers for poseability.  Costume Hoop adds bulk without weight.

Dyes

The skirt is dip-dyed with additional over-brushing with inks to soften the colour.

Wig & Accessories

The hair is black synthetic, knotted only at the hair line.  Frayed braid is added for the streaks.  Eyelashes from the same material.  The gnarled stick is wire bound with hessian.

Costume Patterns

Patterns are scaled up in paper and tested for size.  Then formed in fabric and edged with braid.
